Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Spirit of Justice
Started playing Spirit of Justice. Wow, it goes directly into the deep end. Phoenix’s life on the line unlike ever before. I also have a lot against corruption and dogmatism so this kind of story instantly gets under my skin.
It’s almost difficult to imagine these days, but actual history has no shortage of incredibly courageous people how put their lives to defend a principle or another, and through such actions little by little we have shaped the current world, which while far from perfect, is in many ways quite fair. Unlike Phoenix though, not all real life heroes survived.
“These set pieces look like a rabbit and a moon. Although they could also be a duck and a croissant.” I lol’d
Apollo goes to talk to a shady guy who suddenly brightens when he sees Apollo is a lawyer :D He apparently has need for defense attorneys in his line of work.
Identical twins are not exactly a new idea, even in this particular franchise, but twins with opposite personalities are less common.
I don’t like this monk prosecutor very much, and this trial was like the fourth one about magicians in the game series. Writing continues to be so-and-so. Meaning I’m not very impressed with the game at the present. Though in the earlier game too it usually takes a few episodes for the prosecutor to start to shine as we understand the overarching story of the game.
Rayfa is great as a “follower” in the third episode. The only character I bother to ask those optional “Any ideas?” and “What to do” questions. I love characters who have to be slowly won over.
Completed the third episode, not a bad one, the added intensity in the Khurain setting is welcome addition to the series. Started the next episode which looks like another breather episode. The first piece of evidence is a somewhat detailed map of the restaurant and it’s yard. Knowing these games, I can immediately tell most of those marked locations, doors and corridor turns will become important at some point. And that dog house marked on the yard — I’m 95% sure a plot point will be that someone hid inside it during the crime. (Update: Turns out no one hid in that doghouse, but in a later episode someone did hide in a doghouse)
Prosecutor Nahyuta is not very good as prosecutors in this series go. It’s already his third episode and while he is an intimidating opponent he doesn’t seem to have any redeeming qualities. He hangs to his initial convinctions and when finally proven utterly wrong, simply shrugs that apparently he has been proved wrong. Then he does the exact same thing in the next trial, not showing any change in character or respect towards the lawyer team that is repeatedly beating him.
Playing more Spirit of Justice. Going okay, but these games are pretty long. I don’t understand how the visual novel writers can produce so much text and make it at least somewhat interesting. Do they start with a goal for a scene and then think up ways to bloat it until desired length is achieved? Can they always think of some joke to make? Do they feel no shame about repeating everything at least five times?
Sarge is a great character. Very funny concept, with great dialogue and animations. And the person behind the drone turns out to be cute as well.
Hmm, could it be that Nayna is Amara. Amara is probably able to channel so she could take any form. (It’s a good detective game, film, or book when you can figure things ahead of time by yourself.)
Playing the extra episode of Spirit of Justice but having hard time maintaining interest. Now I kind of get it why the extra episode in the previous game was so flashy (orca aquarium episode).
