I love how the illustrations in my edition of the book are nothing like I expected from a children's book
Foreword 2025-07

The Secret Garden (1911) by Frances Hodgson Burnett is an old children’s book where a spoiled and unlikable girl becomes the opposite through joy of play.

I spent much of a train trip reading The Secret Garden, which is turning out delightful. I picked up this book from my apartment building lobby, where someone had left it along with other books for anyone to take.

Finished reading The Secret Garden. It was very good, I should read “positive” stuff more often. I think overly positive works probably have more to teach about life than overly negative ones.
