Kamikaze Girls
Watching the Japanese film Kamikaze Girls. The beginning retelling of main characters life reminds me of one or two other Japanese movies I’ve seen and Amelie. Similarly comical to them.
I really like this lolita clothing shop. I don’t know if there are actually shops dedicated to such clothing brands, but the idea of a dedicated customer who is going to pay for everything is nice. The 1000 true fans idea. I like how it is portrayed that the other people just don’t get it, especially as I really do find the dresses rather cute (I thought they would only work that nice in 2D. I guess it helps to have a good looking actresses).
The main character is obsessed with her interest to the point of willing to cheat his dad for money. It’s played for laughs. She doesn’t really understand other people, as shown by her indifference to parents (and later the friend).
A nice foil. Laughed at how she spat and the music stopped. I’m sure the jacket goes well for funeral.
So how to stick together two opposite characters who really have no reason to be together? Make one obsess over the other, or just inexplicably hang around. And the other one has no real reason to stop it from happening either. After that, they can grow on each other just from prolonged proximity.
I love how she has decorated the interior of her room. I like that sort of stuff, but would never do it myself because I don’t like owning things, paying for them, nor showing to others what I want to surround myself with. But perhaps one day, if I miraculously turn out to be rich enough for none of those things to matter — but by then, it will surely be too late.
They are getting into fight about being so different. One just begins by calmly explaining that she doesn’t want to do any of what the other likes, and she takes it as an potential insult. Things start snowballing from there.
Lit a cigarette by stucking it into your nose? Why haven’t I ever seen this before.
I really like stories in where a character gets encouraged by others to go for a dream career by cultivating a skill.
Destined encounter with the CEO and the most loyal customer. The CEO knows her by name of course. Awesomely funny acting CEO. Shachou! He’s properly emotional about his job :D
A model who hates the job, breaks camera and abuses the photographers.
That was a fun movie.
