2024
- [BCSeISYcoyI] “EVE Online | Down the Rabbit Hole”
- Very long and thorough amateur documentary of the niche subject of an MMO game. Nice.
2021
- HyperNormalization (2016): Didn’t really like it.
2020
- Woodstock (1970):
- Cool atmosphere indeed. I think the most striking thing is that while this is 50 years old, there is hardly any obvious technological difference to current times. If I saw this footage without a clue, I might have thought it was from the 90s or maybe 80s.
- Skipped to the last third to see Jimi Hendrix. Pretty cool set, but not “divine” or anything in my opinion. The way I see it, Buckethead inherited the legacy of godly guitarism, and Hendrix now is just one of the greats that influenced him and others. I don’t feel like I could enjoy Hendrix as among the modern musicians I love, but I certainly understand if other people, especially ones from his time, enjoy him.
2019
- They Shall Not Grow Old (2018)
2018
- AlphaGo (2017): It was okay, but the amount of Engrish was annoying. And personally having watched all the games and their commentaries, and read on the subject there wasn’t so much new in it for me. I also thought the motivational and emotional fluff was badly executed in this film.
- The Surrounding Game
(2017): Must-see for any go player.
- Fog of War (2003)
- Urasawa Naoki no Manben
: Must-see for serious readers of manga.
- Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things (2015): A friend recommended, it was okay and fun to discuss.
- Fog of War (2003).
2017
- Wordplay (2006): I liked it. My mother has always done crosswords and other kinds of puzzles, and she also used to take part at the top national competitions (I don’t remember how well she did). Apparently the current multi-time champion of that American contest started doing crossword puzzles seriously after seeing this film.
- Enron - The Smartest Guys in the Room (2005): It’s kind of boring in the way documentaries tend to be.
- Where to Invade Next
(2015): Not bad
- State of Play (documentary)
: a StarCraft pro gamer documentary, good for progaming fans.
2015
- Deep Web (2015): About catching Dread Pirate Roberts, the creator of Silkroad. Pretty good.
- Bowling for Columbine
(2002)
