Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai is an anime series based on light novels that explores the “cool fantasies” that many adolescents, boys in particular, get from playing games and watching films. “Chuunibyou” literally means “second year middle school illness”, a pre-existing term that was probably only made known outside Japan thanks to this anime.

I watched this when it aired and it has been my favorite Kyoani show since then. Extremely good direction, art, and voice acting. The first season is just perfect. But after that the story goes in directions that don’t quite explore the premise as promised.

Started watching the latest Chuunibyou movie Take on Me. I’m pausing everywhere because my artist brain is noticing all kinds of things (not implying that this film is better directed/drawn than others). I want to take screenshots of everything, but I’m pretty sure I watching them later I would just be clueless why I saved them.

Liked the movie, mostly because I liked the first season so much. More of the same good.
