Breaking Bad is a good show, but I don’t think I would have wanted to see one more episode of it. I hated almost all of the cast, and by extension most character interactions. It looks like the spin-off Better Call Saul kept all the best characters, although I never thought Saul was that great, so at first the thought of a spin-off about him alone sounded a bit silly to me. But thinking of the series as a prequel/sequel with a partially shared cast it starts to make more sense.

Started watching Better Call Saul. Seems great so far.

I was expecting this to be good, but it’s way better.

It’s getting slower around 3-4 seasons, don’t like it as much anymore.

Finished watching Better Call Saul. Did not really like the ending, nor did I expect to. Is there really no other way to end a story about a criminal than with confession leading to long jail time, death, or an “honorable” suicide? I guess it really depends on what kind of story you set out to tell, but most stories (ie the predictable ones) seem to only end in one of those two ways.

2025: My end of the year 2023 review described the series simply as “Excellent”
